Germany

From Fairytale Castles to Berlin’s Nightlife

Germany is a mix of history, culture, and beautiful landscapes. It has attractions ranging from the fairytale castles of Bavaria to the legendary cafes and clubs of Berlin. Visitors can enjoy world-class beer at Oktoberfest, explore medieval towns, or learn about the country’s complex history at sites like the Berlin Wall and Dachau Concentration Camp.

Due to its wide use of English, German is one of the easier destinations for American travelers. It fits well with trips to France, the Netherlands, or Austria, making for an enriching European journey. With efficient train travel, it’s easy to explore multiple countries in one trip.

Why

As a country straight out of the story books, there is something for everyone in Germany. If you’re not heading there to study at one of their many prestigious international universities or the great Munich Oktoberfest, you’ll find a plethora of highly important historical sites, out of this world party and rave culture, top tier artistry, fairytale castles, thick forests, and of course, classic German gastronomy (yes– we’re talking beer, bratwursts, and sauerkraut!). You can’t go wrong with a visit to Germany.

Where

Germany is located in Central Europe, bordered by nine countries: Denmark to the north, Poland and the Czech Republic to the east, Austria and Switzerland to the south, and France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands to the west. It also has coastlines along the North Sea and the Baltic Sea.

How

Like many European countries, the best way to travel the country is by local metro and train lines. They will get you anywhere you want to go.
