Montenegro
Why
Montenegro is truly one of my countries to date. Even though their cuisine is mostly meat based, the unique natural landscape blew me away.
It’s like if Yosemite and the Peak District in the UK had a baby. Plus there’s lakes all over and large snake winding rivers. Plus Med coast line, cool history, and walled cities. What more could you want?
Where
Located in Eastern Europe, Montenegro has Mediterranean coast line south of Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. To the south you find Albania. Serbia and unrecognized Kosovo border in the east.
The lake system that near to Croatia helps create the border between Croatia and Montenegro.
How
Go for at least a week, but two would be best. It’s a small country but it packed with wonderful outdoor adventure.
Spend a few days on the coast at the beginning or end of your trip, then rent a car and spend five to eight days on a road trip. You’ll definitely want to spend a day or two in Kotor and longer in Dormitor National Park (if you love hiking).
