Finland

Saunas, and Stunning Landscapes

In the winter, Finland is a wonderland with northern lights, cozy saunas, and breathtaking Arctic scenery. The summer months offer endless forests and thousands of lakes perfect for outdoor adventures. Visitors can experience the magic of Lapland with reindeer sledding and Santa’s Village or explore the design-forward capital, Helsinki, with its stunning architecture and lively food scene.

It pairs well with Sweden, Norway, or Estonia, creating a perfect Nordic itinerary that blends nature, history, and innovation. Many travelers take a ferry from Helsinki to Tallinn, Estonia, or explore the Arctic Circle by continuing into Sweden or Norway.

Why

If you’re into quiet, pine tree-filled forests and water sports, this might just be the country for you. Finland is the land of a thousand lakes at the same latitude as Alaska at its lowest points. It’s absolutely teeming with trees, calming farm land, as well as rich nautical history along the coast. You’ll find Finland to be one of the easiest countries to travel around with modern, convenient living standards and hard working but adventurous locals to mingle with. The high number of migrants to Helsinki makes it a rich city for gastronomy thanks to the cultural influences so strongly held onto. Head to Finland’s northern Lapland region for remote adventures, northern lights viewing, and indigenous cultural experiences. Your trip to Finland isn’t complete without some sauna hopping!

Where

Finland is located in Northern Europe, bordered by Sweden to the west, Russia to the east, and Norway to the north. The Baltic Sea lies to the south, giving Finland a coastline, while its landscape is characterized by thousands of lakes and vast forests.

How

Finland is well connected by train and local metro systems, but the best way to see it is by driving or by bicycle if you’re a go-getter. That is, unless you’re heading to Lapland and don’t have a ton of time, then internal flights are a perfect go-to. In the high north, dog sledding may be the way to go.
